Chow Chow



The Chow Chow comes from the highlands of northern China, where he lived for over 2000 years.

The origin of its name is unknown. It means "black tongue" or "black mouth", although there are legends in which we call "dog-wolf" or "dog bear" by the belief of his kinship with these animals. There are also studies that indicate that the name may come from a word in Chinese culinary significance.

The long history it has been used as a hunter, as drawer sled by monks of Manchuria with little success because it is not very quick or agile. In some parts of Asia it is raised for its meat, which is considered a luxury meat.





Physical Characteristics

The chow chow is extraordinarily beautiful and very elegant, it looks like a lion but with a purple tongue, very dark. Body compact, not very heavy and well balanced, it has a good figure and is plotted his tail high. Its coat may be long or short. It has small ears, heavy, slightly rounded at the tip and he is perfectly rigid. The eyes are dark and almond, is a quiet dog, good guard, his tongue is dark blue. It is unique in its approach slender.



Character of Chow Chow

It's a dog of one teacher, so stubborn, sometimes it can be disobedient behavior, so it requires an education smooth but firm and patient.
